What they had to say
“UFP Edge has a lot of moving parts and it can be a very complex process to manage. Alex and the team at Resource Communications have not only allowed us to streamline this process, but we have saved a significant amount of money, time and stress. I could not recommend them enough.”

Challenge
UFP Industries’ Edge Business Unit was facing escalating costs and inefficiencies in their sample distribution process, specifically related to the packaging materials (boxes, labels, wraps) and the overall assembly and shipping process. The Edge team sought a partner that could help reduce these costs while improving speed and efficiency in assembly and distribution.
The goal was to cut costs significantly while maintaining high-quality standards in packaging and sample distribution. They needed a solution that could handle all aspects of the process, from material supply to assembly, storage, and drop shipping.
Strategy
RCI was awarded the business after demonstrating a cost-saving solution that would cut the project’s overall costs through these key steps:
1. Cost Reduction and Material Supply:
- RCI took over the supply chain for all packaging materials, including printed boxes, labels, and board wraps.
- By leveraging supplier relationships and optimizing materials, RCI was able to find significant savings for UFP Industries.
2. Efficient Fulfillment and Assembly:
- All assembly, storage, and drop shipping operations were consolidated at RCI’s fulfillment warehouse, streamlining the entire process.
- Each sample package is assembled based on specific project requirements, inventoried, and stored for drop shipping as finished goods.
3. ShipStation Integration:
This seamless integration allowed for a smoother transition, quicker order entry, and accurate, timely shipping of all UFP Edge’s sample products.
To improve order processing and drop shipping efficiency, RCI integrated ShipStation, a leading online order entry and drop ship platform.

Execution
RCI quickly ramped up the program in January 2024, delivering immediate cost savings and operational improvements by taking over the following responsibilities:
- Material Sourcing: Supplied all necessary packaging materials, including custom-printed boxes, labels, and wraps.
- Assembly and Storage: Managed all assembly of the sample products in RCI’s fulfillment warehouse, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and quality.
- Inventory and Drop Shipping: Once assembled, products are inventoried and stored as finished goods, ready for drop ship orders based on real-time demand.
By centralizing all aspects of the sample distribution process, RCI eliminated inefficiencies and reduced turnaround times, providing faster delivery of samples to UFP’s customers.
